Healesville Sanctuary
"Healesville Sanctuary, Australia's premier wildlife park is nestled in the foothills of the Yarra Valley, just one hour from Melbourne. Koalas, dingoes, kangaroos and the unique platypus are just a few of the 200 species of Australian wildlife flourishing in a stunning Australian bushland environment."

"Healesville Sanctuary's Birds of Prey show was launched over ten years ago and has since become one of the Sanctuary's most anticipated and 'must do' experiences. Set in the Sanctuary's outdoor amphitheatre, Birds of Prey is a thrilling aerial display demonstrating the magnificent flight and hunting skills of Australian species such as the Wedge-tailed Eagle, Peregrine Falcon, Black Breasted Buzzard and Barking Owl."

MoMa, I am extremely lucky for my family to have so graciously sent me on this trip! I NEVER thought I would see Australia... Jesse had also wanted to go and never made it!
The bird display was just outstanding and I am so sorry all I had was a lousy disposable camera to try and capture the experience! What a shame.

The animals are incredible!! and I love Koala. A friend of my parents actually held one and said their nails are something fierce..she had scratches from them right through her clothes!

Yep, Tren, their nails are LONG! It's been very cold, so most of the time we've seen them huddled over into a ball to keep themselves warm. They have a very slow metabolism also and the eucalyptus leaves don't yield too much energy, so they are pretty slow! They also seem quite solitary. Wish I had time to learn more, but I will probably be Googling after the fact! :)
Rawja, next stop: S.Africa!!! :)
