Autumn Splendour

October gave a party;
The leaves by hundreds came.
The Chestnuts, Oaks, and Maples,
And leaves of every name.
The Sunshine spread a carpet,
And everything was grand,
Miss Weather led the dancing,
Professor Wind the band.

    Purdy colors! I always appreciate living somewhere that has all four seasons. Fall always makes me melencoly tho. Probably because despite it's beautiful folage I know full well that a long winter is just around the corner and a good wind will take care of all the colorful leaves. I do have many good memories of hiking in the woods with Mom and us 3 little girls tho. A good frost would kill the mosquitoes and we would take apples and what ever else would fit in our pockets and go hiking for hours on end. We would find paper wasps nests and other interesting things. The dogs always came back to the house full of cockle-burrs. Those are some pretty good memories those there leaves evoked. Thanks much! Talk to you later kiddo!
    Hugs my friend,
    Julie

    Hi Julie,
    I'm so glad you're still popping in to visit! :D

    I love autumn too. We had very pretty changes of season in Johannesburg and a wonderful climate. In the Gulf Coast, we only have about a two-week winter and there aren't the same kind of trees here as there are back home. This is semi-desert country so unless one is up in the Piney Woods or possibly Hill Country, I doubt that one would see that kind of autumnal display. Spring here is over pretty quickly, but I love seeing the trees bud and the blossoms pop out albeit quickly! I love your reminiscences, thanks for sharing them with me. I would have loved to have experienced that kind of nature hike!

    Girlfriend, I've missed ya. I was so irritated with myself... I answered your second to last email on my notebook computer, and then I'm not sure what happened, might have been static, I lost the dang email and just was too tired to do it again. I've been meaning to reply to your last email but have been busy with schoolwork! Please forgive me!

    I will catch up soon! Lots of love and hugs to you, girlfriend!
