I think another one of the things I like about eating fruit and veg. is all the BRIGHT COLOURS! Woohoo!

Beautiful, colorful fruit pictures. They look very eatable. Don't know what lichis is (are). Don't think I've ever seen them for sale. Think I'll go have a large California orange. They're my favorite oranges.

Hiya Granmarnie! Litchis are small oval fruits inside a brown prickly looking skin. The flesh is off-white and juicy and there's a large oval pip (pit) within. The fruit is very sweet and tasty! I found them here brought in from Mexico. We had oodles of them in South Africa! Delicious!

Granmarnie, you can see the litchis in the second picture, next to the cantaloupe (sweet melon) and the granadillas (passion fruit!) :)

Well, Sue-Lynn, I feel 10 pounds thinner already!!! And I just looked at your wonderfully delicious fruit photos!!!! I am really getting hungry now!!!!!! And what colour!!! You did well with these gorgeous photos, Sue-Lynn!! Way to go!!!!! I would LOVE a nice big fruit salad!!! I used to love to have fruit salad with low fat cottage cheese and 6 halves of walnuts. That was a nice lunch (from the Scarsdale diet from the '80's). Problem is I should eat dairy because of migraines and cottage cheese is dairy.....Oh well, maybe a bit wouldn't hurt but it is safer to leave it alone and just have the fruit and walnut halves. Makes a great combo!!

Also, for Granmarnie, lichis are also found in Chinese grocery stores as they are quite the popular food in their community. They are also very delicate to the taste and I also enjoy eating them.

Anyway, thank you, Sue-Lynn for these colourful, mouthwatering photos of all these fruit!! I want to get different fruit and make some salads, once again. I think I will do that very soon.

    With love and big hugs,
    Beth

I meant I shouldn't eat dairy. Sorry about that.

Hiya Beth :) I'm glad I've got your mouth watering for some healthy stuff! LOL. I find that fruit over here does not stay fresh for long. It also just doesn't taste the same as fruit did when I was growing up! However, I am always fascinated to see how many places we get fruit from over here. California, Georgia, Texas, Mexico, Chile, Spain, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand... can't think of any more at the moment!! One of South Africa's big exports are oranges. I've also bought South African pears and pineapples here too! I'm always excited to find SA produce because it's grown in my home country's SOIL!! WOohooo!

I have to watch cholesterol, plus there are dietary restrictions I observe from a religious viewpoint. I really wish I was vegetarian completely and not actually spill blood to eat, but I'm not there yet. I am pretty sure that if I had to actually kill the animal myself, I wouldn't do it.

I used to avoid dairy at one stage, as it didn't help sinus trubs, but these days I just don't seem to be so conscientious.

I also tried to avoid sugars and hidden sugars altogether at one point, and I started dropping weight VERY fast. However, my SWEET TOOTH has returned with a VENGEANCE and the thought of avoiding all the wrong things at the moment is a VERY HARD NUT TO SWALLOW!! Talking about nuts, I eat almonds regularly. Pecans are grown in TX (our state tree) and I like most nuts. Peanuts are supposed to be too high in fats, so I try to limit those.

Don't forget to visit Mr. Hobbes' post... he seems to want that post ALL to himself! He's even gone and invited ALL the Posse Pets to come and play. He said that Angel and Sophie and he would be the hosts and hostesses! He's a REAL Puss-in-Boots! Hope you don't mind that he roped Angel in!! LOL! She's gonna have to do some MIGHTY long-armed manipulations to host all the way from Canada! LOL

Hey Girl! Much more sensible pictures than the cake but not near as much fun. It will be safer without all that drool on the floor. I have been cooking up a storm all weekend to feed all the family that came from SD. The last of them are leaving today and of course I go back to work tonight. It was alot of fun while it lasted tho. Those college boys can sure eat! It's nice to feed a big crowd when they appreciate the food so much. Anyway, the fruit looks pretty inviting but doesn't evoke the salivation like the cake site. Of course the juices running down the chin can pool on the floor too, can't it? I'm just going to have to accept the fact that I am going to slip on something and land on my butt again.

LOL, what a lovely mind pic! Darlin, I can assure you, you're not the only one who's gonna slip and fall on their butt! Check out the cake section... we're spreading across Europe! LOLOL! We have a real BEVY of BUTTS joining us lately! LOL!

I like juicy fruit, too! Mmmmm...cherries are my all-time favorite...I buy bags of them all summer long and, lucky me, Adam doesn't like them (its a birth defect), which means more for me! And I think you're right...fruit doesn't always taste like fruit anymore. There's a strawberry patch up in north GA that we like to visit each June on our way to a hike that we love, and we're looking forward to going soon. This year, I'm going to buy plenty of strawberries to eat...plus plenty more to make JAM! And you just KNOW you'll be getting some! ;)

My mom is probably the one responsible for my love of fruit. When I was little, that was all I was allowed to have for a snack. No chips, no cookies, no sugary cereals, no soda...just fruit. At the time, it was a major bummer, and I thought my mom was the ultimate buzz kill: how uncool could she get?! But I love fruit now, and I reach for it more than I probably would if I hadn't grown up eating it...or, having it fed to me, is probably more like it! *ha!*

*sigh* I do still love cake, though. =^..^=

    Hey, Sue-Lynn,

I have a fruit joke for you that I heard the other day.

What did one strawberry say to the other strawberry?

If you weren't so fresh last night we wouldn't be in this jam.......

Take care and continue to enjoy your fruit salads. I look forward to making one soon for myself....

    Love and hugs,
    Beth
